#66: I am who I am
In this episode, Jeanette shares her personal experience of struggling with identity after leaving the military and moving across the country while pregnant, and how discovering one's true identity gets done by getting closer to God. Knowing your identity in Christ might not be easy at first, but something that helps is the I am statements found in the Bible.
Identity is a significant aspect of your life, but it can be challenging to define, especially after life-altering experiences, but God tells us who we are, and this is what we need to focus on.

I was pregnant, just moved across the country and I was like, Who am I? Who is Jeanette? What did you not like?

I don't know. I even started an Instagram called Who's Jeanette? Because I was like, I don't know who is Jeanette? Where is Jeanette? Like, who is Jeanette? Who is she? And so I really want to talk about your identity and what that means when you are in Christ, when you are in the Kingdom of Christ. Right? So discovering our true identity takes a lot of self-discovery, almost.

Right. So when that happened and I was like, Who am I? What am I supposed to do? I have no idea who I am. After getting closer with God, I realized that He tells us who we are. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Right. And at the time, I was like, okay, that's great, but why did you make me?

And I know that I am the Lord's light. I'm part of the light of the world. I am part of that. And I know that I am so grounded in knowing that that it feels good, because when I have these I am statements and they're so rich and steeped in the Bible and like sacred word, I know that I'm on the right track because I if I forget, Bree, if I forget who I am, I can always go back to God and he will tell me who I am.

He will tell me why I’m made. He will tell me the goodness of him and why I am created. So I just want to share with you a few of them that are so good, especially when I am not feeling like myself. So one is I have been redeemed, forgiven, and I am the recipient of his lavish grace.

Like, sorry I get high when I start talking about telling the devil where he's supposed to go. I get real. Like, you know, like I grew up in the hood, which I didn't like. I get like that. I'm like, Oh, yes, you go where you need to go, son. And I love it because that reminds me who I am, who God is, and who God made me to be, makes me feel so good because I can always go back to the word just if I'm having a bad day, if I'm like, the devil is getting at me.

What is going on? All the things are in my mind. They're confusing me. I go back to the word, I'm a daughter of God. I may not be the I am, but the I am is in me and I am who I am. Okay, I am who I am. And that makes me feel good. I'm like, Yeah, I am who I am.

I am a daughter of God. I am the person who's going to be wreck and face for Jesus. Yes, let's do this. You're me. And when we meditate on those words, which, you know, meditation has all sorts of different connotations, in my mind, meditation means I use that word, I use I put it in places where I can see it.

It's constantly in my mind. I might even have a quiet time where I'm just like reading that and remembering who I am is not like reminding myself, is remembering because I'm already that. I'm just remembering the things that God has already said to me in my heart. He already told me that. So I'm just remembering these things and be like, Yeah, oh yeah, that's right, that's right.

Do you ever forget something? And you're like, Oh yeah, I am that to my eyes, I forget. I'm a person with gray hair. I forget I wear a wig, and sometimes I forget I'm a person with gray hair. Oh, yeah, I remember. I took this out. Oh, I see that one. That one.

Gray. She is long too. Oh, man, I forgot. But living my true identity with God is just, like, magnificent. And I love feeling empowered to live a life filled with purpose and to share God's love. Really, that's. That's why I'm here. Like, I want people who listen to this podcast to be like, Oh, she knows business and Jesus. Yep, let's go.

Because we're in businesses and we were not supposed to make money because that's dumb. Okay, that's done. I'm like, going off on a tangent. These are not my notes. I was just going like I was reading about how much gold and how silver they used for the first altar. Like after they left the prom, the whatever. Like after we left the Israelites and they were on their way to the promised land. And that and Moses had just gotten, had just gone to Mt. Sinai and he came back down and they're like describing how the meeting place is and all the things that it is and how everybody was giving gold and everything, all their stuff, right?

They would call us fake. We were doing what we were supposed to be doing. You know what? Why is that? Why is that? Why can't we make money and still love Jesus? Just because I'm making money doesn't mean I don't love Jesus. We. I'm a daughter of a king, so shouldn't I live like a princess? Come on. Here.

Money is a tool. It is not. The love of money is wrong. Money is not wrong. Money is a tool. It just is. I love God way more than I love money. But you know what? I get what I deserve because God said so now. Because I said so. Anyways, I just had to put that out there.

Make money, girl. Do your thing, make that money, but also tie that have a good heart like all the things, right? It's not just like getting money, get money and have a good heart pressure. Get money and give when God tells you to give, it's just a thing. Get money and don't be attached to it.

Get money and give when you need to. It's not just get money and floss. Whatever the word their kids are using these days. What I don't know. I don't know. I don't know what they're using but don't get money, a flash of it that's not what money is for whatever it's just a tool. Use the tool.
