and it is not my calling is not my love. My love is talking to people my love is giving them encouragement. My job is to encourage people with the Holy Spirit and with God and with the Scripture. That is my calling. That is, I didn't know that. If you'd have told me that. Five years ago, before I had my kid, I would have told you you are a nutcase.

Jeanette Peterson 0:27

You're listening to the unapologetically unstoppable podcast, it's about going deep into who you are made to be. And following that, no matter what, where your calling is in the front seat, and fear, well, it's trying to stop you. But fuck that guy, and getting the tools and tips to become an unstoppable. I'm your host, Jeanette Peterson, where not too long ago, I had to find my calling. Here, you'll hear from me and other online experts on how to discover your calling, the steps to make it happen, and how to monetize it. I believe if we're unapologetic about our calling, we become an unstoppable expansive force. So let's get started.

Jeanette Peterson 1:40

Hey, girl, hey, sometimes I think that it feels like we have to do everything by ourselves. And if we don't, then we're not being a good mom, wife, woman, etc. And that's not true. We literally were not made to do everything we weren't. We were made to do what God told us to do. So I want to know what that is for you. And like, how do you know if you're living in purpose? For me, it was a lot of trial and error and a lot of listening. And you know what, sometimes I'm looking back, I don't even think it was trial and error. I think it was God's divine plan to walk this way. When I totally changed my life and six months of getting pregnant, getting out of the military without my want or desire. Getting orders across the country and moving away from family was, like the scariest six months of my life. Also, without a job, I didn't know what I was going to do. I didn't know I didn't know anything. I was totally in God's hand. I didn't even know if I wanted to be a mom. And then I got pregnant. It was it was just like, what is happening? And we'll say that there was one prayer that changed my entire life. And that was me and Austin, sitting in our tub. And I was telling him like, look, we need to pray about this. I was not even like a hardcore Christian, then we didn't even go to church. But I believed in God. And I believed in prayer. And I said, God, this was after 11 months of trying to get pregnant and not getting pregnant. And going to like setting appointments for infertility, the whole nine yards of everything, like starting that process, and not getting my periods regular because of the stress that I was under the military, all of the things right. And so we sat and we prayed. And the prayer was something like God if you want me to have children, this is on you. I'm done tracking. I'm done watching. I'm done trying to figure this out on my own. This is completely yours. I'm done. I'm done. So if you only have kids, this is on you, bro. I'm done. I'm not doing this anymore. And 100% Fully giving the decision to have a child up to God not taking into my hands.

Jeanette Peterson 4:31

I would still like move in the fact of like going to the doctor's appointments and stuff like that, but I was no longer stressed about it. I was like, You know what, this is your gonna happen or it's not and I can't, I can't control this. This is out of my control. Totally. And it was scary. Because I didn't know if I wanted a kid and I didn't know if I could have kids. So it was like trying to feel fine about being a woman and her like, almost 30s. And trying to figure out if I even want to have kids, you're supposed to write, you're supposed to want to have kids, you're supposed to want to be a mom, you're supposed to want all these things. And I said, You know what? I'm done. I'm done. I can't do this anymore. So got that, okay. I will give you a baby. But and sometimes you don't think about the but right? We want everything to say the same except for him to give us what we want. God said, No, I'm not doing that. I will give you a baby. But you're getting out of the military. You got to turn to your husband for everything you need. And you're gonna find me in Cincinnati?

Jeanette Peterson 6:00

Who knew? Right? Who do? Who knew that sin city where I never even wanted to go? It would be the place that I'd be saved and baptized. Who knew? Now that is God's plan? I don't know about you. But that's completely written in the stars. That is not a Jeanette said that she's gonna get baptized in Vegas. Yeah, no, I would have never guessed. I would have. I would have put a Vegas bet on that opposite style. Like no. And that's when I realized my purpose is not in the military. I didn't know what it was. I didn't know what it's gonna look like. But I knew that my purpose was not in the military. It wasn't there is no way because he's taking me out of it. I'd need to have a job. I got a call. As we're driving across the country. And them saying hey, we have a job for you. Do you want to take it and they said yes.

Jeanette Peterson 7:08

Didn't even know if I was gonna have a job. But I was I was just riding along with God. I put in my I put my resumes out there and was like waiting for it. I was terrified. I was eight months pregnant. And I didn't know anybody in the new place we were going to I didn't know anything about childcare. I know nothing about giving birth. And that's not something that I really looked into or studied. Because I was not convinced I want to have kids. So why am I going to research something that I don't even know if I want? Do you research planes? Okay, I don't even know if I want to be a pilot. I've never even really thought about it that deeply. But I'm not gonna start researching what kind of plane they can fly and where the airports are. No, that's how it was. I was like, This is crazy. This is this is not. This is not. And that's what I realized. I am not made to do everything. I am only made for the things that God leads me to. I am no longer made for the military. I'm not. I am no longer made for it. I'm not pays well. That drives me nuts. And it is not my calling is not my love. My love is talking to people my love is giving them encouragement. My job is to encourage people with the Holy Spirit and with God and with the Scripture. That is my calling. That is I didn't know that. And if you'd have told me that, five years ago, before I had my kid, I would have told you you were a nutcase. Straight up. But now I know I'm not meant to do everything. I'm not made to do laundry at my house. I'm not. I am not made to decorate. I'm not. I am not made to make you feel good about the choices you make that are bad. I'm going to tell you the truth girl. And sorry. If it hurts, I'm just spitting straight fire truth and that is just who I am.

Jeanette Peterson 9:22

If you want a friend to go Kiki with you and get coffee and do a puzzle, I'm your friend. You want a friend to go shopping with you and try on different things. Girl, I'll skip that. Come on when you want to do a puzzle. I'm not. No thank you. No, thank you. Lovely to babysit for you. No, thank you. No thank you. But there are people who are made to do those things and that's the deep polling they have in their heart. And that's all I want for you is to follow that. And the other things find a way to Let them go, because they're not for you. And that's okay, I need you to be okay with it. And people are not going to understand my friends, aka family, aka my people are like you would just rather just pay somebody than to do it yourself some things, yes, straight up, yes. If it sucks the life out of me, I would rather not do it. I would rather give with a joyful heart than to do something that I hate. I really would. And I'm not going to joyfully watch your kids. So if I volunteered what your kids that's a big deal. Just for the record, that's a big deal. So take me up on it. Because that means I actually like you. And your kids, because I don't like most kids. That's just because I just don't know if I ever wanted them. And some of them are kind of gross, sorry. But if you want me to encourage you in the Lord, and tell you what you're doing, and how to walk with the Lord, and how to pray, and how to do less, and how to say no more, and all of those things, I'm your girl, you want to learn how to hear from God, I'm your girl, you want to know what your purpose is, I'm your girl, you want to talk about leading a movement. I'm your girl. Don't call me to cook with you. Don't do it, I'm not gonna do it. I don't even know how to like set a table properly, I'm not that great with like etiquette. Give me a pizza and a glass of wine, I'm there, you're going to do like a seven course meal, now you're gonna cook something, I will enlist my husband to cook for you. I will do that. Because he's good at that. And he's really good at doing those things and making people feel good with food. I'm not.

Jeanette Peterson:

And I don't care how traditional looks. There's nothing in the Bible that says the man has to make money, and the woman has to cook. Nothing. So you know, and I'm not cooking in my house. Unless I really feel like, Oh, I really feel like I want to cook, I really want to make this meal. I really want to do this with love. Otherwise, you're just gonna get resentment out of me. And nobody likes a resentful wife. So I want you to know that you are not made to do everything. What are three things right now that you are not supposed to be doing but you're doing anyways because you feel like you have to or you should. And I want to come up with a plan to help you stop doing those things and or turn them into a joyful thing that you can do. Because sometimes we're doing things that we don't like, and we don't know why we don't like them. But maybe we actually do like them. We're just not doing them the way that we want to be doing them. So we don't like them.

Jeanette Peterson:

Alison and I were talking about social media the other day, and definitely I'm the one that's out there and Instagram, being funny, laughing showing all the sides of what it's like to be in my life, whatever. And Allison doesn't really like that. That's her thing. And we came for the plane the other day of Oh, wait. I don't like this part of social media. I don't like this part of social media. And we're like, we're the exact most things were the exact opposite.

Jeanette Peterson:

So why didn't we think of this before where like, I thought that I had to do all of the pieces of social media and she thought this she had through all the pieces of social media. And really, I can just do my part she could do her part. And that's why we came to business together in the first place is because we are the exact opposite but the same dodge Annette da Ellison, why didn't we think of this before? So let's find a way to make those three things that you do not like doing either joyful, or a way to outsource them because you're not made to do everything go oh my goodness.

Jeanette Peterson:
