Speaker 1

Who's making the Website. That is a big thing you should ask yourself, because if you're the one that's going to be making the website for somebody else, going to be making the Web site, you need to know what the capabilities are of those two things so you can make the best Web site for you. Or you can know exactly how to talk to the person who's going to be making the website for you.

00;00;18;16 - 00;00;41;16

Speaker 1

Do you want God's plan for your life? Do you want to discover your calling? Do you want to build a business as aligned with God's will? Hey, girl. Hey, I'm a business and faith coach. After a decade in the military, the Air Force said Selita and I had to find my true calling. Want to know how God worked in my life from a cybersecurity engineer to a faith and business mentor?

00;00;41;28 - 00;01;05;16

Speaker 1

In this podcast, I'll teach you how to start a business. How to know your business is God's calling. Monetization Techniques. How to trust the Holy Spirit and how to set boundaries to listen to His Word alone, ready to become unapologetically unstoppable.

00;01;08;03 - 00;01;34;24

Speaker 1

Hey, girl. Hey. Oh, my gosh, dear. Remember the twins like denim? Britney and Justin, like all that drama the O.G. Destiny's Child. Like the O's were like the best. I mean, I probably should have been watching MTV at that age because it was all trash, but I loved it. I was just like, yes, I'm going to be a teenager.

00;01;34;24 - 00;01;55;10

Speaker 1

Like, yes, Pepsi, like gas. Let's do all these things. Right. And one thing that I definitely did was have my own website. I mean, there was this builder, I'm always called, but it's so easy to use. You could just like pop things in and pop things out and write your name and all these different emojis and like these gifs.

00;01;55;10 - 00;02;17;21

Speaker 1

And it was, it was like a whole thing, right? And from that age, I realized that what place you're putting a website on matters, okay? Because you don't want to be too hard or too complicated for you to figure out, but you also want to look good where it doesn't necessarily really look like you just spent 30 minutes putting it together.

00;02;17;21 - 00;02;32;15

Speaker 1

You know what I mean? I want to look professional, but I also don't want to look too gross, you know what I mean? I don't want to be too cluttered. I want to look professional, but I also want it to be easy for me to do. It has to be something that I can do, because let's be real.

00;02;33;02 - 00;03;02;05

Speaker 1

We're all born on a budget over here. How have you seen the economy lately? So when I was choosing the website platform that I'm on now, these are five things that I want to consider or think about. Before I decided on a website, House number one what am I using that website for? Okay, so if I'm just podcasting, do I need a website or does my podcast distributor have one that they can use with that?

00;03;02;15 - 00;03;27;27

Speaker 1

Right. What am I doing selling something like a physical product or am I just selling my services? Why do I need a website? What is the purpose of the website? Okay too. Am I making it myself? If I'm making it myself, I want it to be something that I can navigate easily. A place that has lots of YouTube or tutorials that I can learn how to use.

00;03;27;27 - 00;03;52;11

Speaker 1

It is not overly convoluted. Right? I'm trying to do this. Trying to bootstrap it. Let's go. Oh, number three, someplace that has a lot of free templates or examples of how websites look on their website. So I know what I'm expecting. I feel like when I look at certain websites, I can tell automatically what their host is because of how the website is set up.

00;03;52;25 - 00;04;16;28

Speaker 1

And that's not a bad thing. I'm just saying after you're in it for so long, you're like, Oh, is that this website or is this website? Is there anything wrong with that? I just like seeing different websites and how they're used. So knowing if it's got templates and what kind of templates I'm going to use that matters. Number four, do I need it for SEO?

00;04;16;28 - 00;04;35;05

Speaker 1

Is SEO very important? So some websites are done because the builders are new and so their SEO doesn't show up as high on Google as some other ones. So that's something you need to consider because you want to be search engine optimiser, you want to be searchable, you want people to find you if that's your strategy, right?

00;04;35;13 - 00;04;53;13

Speaker 1

If people are like if you have a company that's just like here in town and you want people to Google you, you want to be sure that you have some SEO. If you're an online provider, you might not because you're getting clients in other ways by making relationships with them, you might not need to be on the front page of Google.

00;04;53;23 - 00;05;19;11

Speaker 1

So take that into consideration when you're choosing your website. Host And number five, customization. Some people like hella customized sites where everything is what they imagined. Everything has its own flow. And if I want that, then that's going to determine where my website is going to be hosted. Right now for my website, I'm using a job and I did it myself.

00;05;19;11 - 00;05;40;01

Speaker 1

I did not use a template. I kind of went with a minimalist style because that's kind of what I want for right now. But I do want somebody to make my website later and when they do that later, the host I'm going to use is not going to be a job. I'm going to use WordPress. WordPress is like the O.G. This is the creme de la creme.

00;05;40;01 - 00;06;01;23

Speaker 1

You can do anything you want. If your mind can imagine it, you can do it on WordPress. You want a template, it's got you. You want to completely code, it's got you whatever you want, you can do it. And so when I get enough dollars and coins, I'm going to make a website, have somebody else make a website on WordPress.

00;06;03;15 - 00;06;24;18

Speaker 1

So I want you to remember those five things. Okay. So when you're looking for a new host for your website or you're just considering switching website hosts because it's too expensive, remember these five things? What am I using the website for? Who is making the website? Do they have lots of templates? Is it so important for my website and do I need a lot of customization?

00;06;24;22 - 00;06;51;04

Speaker 1

So those are things you should consider when you are choosing a website. Host Good luck. Wow, that was so good. So I know that you know somebody that also needs to hear that.
